Steam Game Festival: Play What’s Next Is Live!

500 DEMOS!!! *passes out*

It’s time again for Steam’s Game Festival! Taking on the “Play What’s Next” title, we’re getting a ton, and I mean a ton, of demos to play. 500 to be exact. Though, in addition of demos and finding out about games that you’ll find interesting, livestreams and chat with devs will be happening as well during this event.

This Game Festival will end on February 9, with most demos being limited time like before. Unless the dev specifically stated it’ll stay around or leave, you won’t know so make sure to play the ones you’re interested in before the 9th. As you won’t be able to play them once the demo gets taken down. You can check out the featured Steam page HERE

As there are so many demos, I’m going to put up a small sampling from each genre that doesn’t seem like they’ll be well known:

Action

• First Class Trouble
  A party game where players must work together, and against, to survive a deadly AI. Be careful though, as there are human looking killer robots within your ranks.
• Hidden Deep
  An atmospheric sci-fi thriller where you’ll control your team members as you explore, scan, and shoot to accomplish your mission in a huge suboceanic mining and research facility.
• Dead Estate
  A gory fast-paced shooter where you must escape a monster-filled mansion.
• Sands of Aura
  an open world action adventure where you’ll sail across sandseas to return life to a dying world.
• Too Good For School
  Play as a high school girl who was recently let out of juvenile detention after being framed. Now that you’re released, it’s time to find out who framed you.

Adventure

• No Place for Bravery
  Play as an old and ambitious warrior roaming a vicious war-torn world in search of his lost daughter. You must survive the rampant and violet battles if you want to continue.
• Children of Silentown
  A dark adventure game where you take control of a young girl growing up in a village where people are disappearing. But she’s letting curiosity get the better of her as she sets out to investigate why.
• Loop Hero
  Thrown into a timeless loop, you’ll need to wield an expanding deck of mystical cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain along each loop.
• Luna’s Fishing Garden
  A cozy fishing and building game where you’ll catch fish, trade it in, and create your own garden.
• Beacon Pines
  A cute and creepy adventure game within a magical storybook, you’ll play both the storyteller and the book’s main character.

Strategy

• Eat’n Eaten
  Try to maintain balance of your greendom until you can annihilate every invader.
• Floppy Knights
  An adorable deck-building game where you’ll send out your projection knights summoned from floppy disks to battle against your enemies.
• The Amazing American Circus
  A deck0building game that takes elements of resource management, tycoon, and exploration. You’ll be hiring artists with their own card sets, traveling across the USA, meeting famous people, and completing quests.
• The Last Spell
  Defend the last bastion of humanity with your squad of heroes and build up your city defenses.
• Obsidian Prince
  A cute endless dungeon where your choices will have real consequences, explore, and rebuild the overworld to discover quests and new dungeons.

Simulation

• Ice Cream Truck
  Play Max as he reaches an unfamiliar universe with his ice cream truck and help those residing here with his emotion-flavored ice cream.
• Potion Craft
  An alchemist sim where you’ll interact with your tools and ingredients to brew potions.
• Hundred Days – Winemaking Simulator
  Try to make the best wine and take your winery to the top.
• Kardboard Kings
  Move to the seaside and open up your own game shop! You’ll be able to decorate your store, befriend costumers, and collect magical cards.
• Tinytopia
  Create a tiny city of your own creation and grow it to a soaring metropolis.

RPG

• Chicory
  From the creators of Wandersong and Celeste, play as a dog wielding a magic brush as you go on a journey to bring color back to the world.
• Coromon
  A monster taming game where a shady organization is on the verge of releasing a dark power upon the world.
• Rise Eterna
  Follow the story of Lua and unveil the mysteries surrounding her origins.
• Oddventure
  A lore-rich RPG set in a cursed fairytale world where you’ll fight your inner demons and reach for a spark of hope or stare into the abyss.
• Osteoblasts
  a dungeon crawler skeletal RPG where you play as a spooky scary skeleton raised by the dead by Cat Witch. You’ll be faced with quests, other skeletons, dungeons, and monsters to fight.

Horror

• Lamentum
  A pixel art horror survival game where you find yourself at a creepy mansion in hopes to cure your wife’s deadly disease.
• Stay Out of the House
  Try to escape the house of a cannibal serial killer. This takes inspiration from VHS era slasher movies and PS1 survival Horror
• Slender Threads
  A point and click thriller where unseen forces bind the fate of an unremarkable traveling salesman to a town he arrives in one day.
• Almost My Floor
  A horror point and click where Alex unexpectedly experiences events that he would have loved to watch if it was in a horror movie.

Puzzle

• Detective From The Crypt
  Play as Jane as she finds herself waking up as a ghost. Investigate her and her family’s death by seeking evidence to properly accuse your killer.
• Princess Farmer
  Play as a magical bunny farmer as you befriend other adorable characters, solve mysteries, and play a match-3 minigame to farm.
• Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood
  As Scarlet Hood leads a Munchkin troupe through the Wicked Woods, you must overcome disasters that seem to await at every turn.
• One Dreamer
  Manipulate the world around you by editing source code and try to help this burnt out game developer to fulfill a lifelong dream.
• Tiny Room Stories: Town Mysteries
  Find the answers of town mystery in a game with escape the room mechanics.

Platformer

• Jack Axe
  Take Jack and her sisters on an axe tossing platforming adventure in a vibrant open world inspired by Filipino and Norse Mythology.
• Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield
  Survive a futuristic Tokyo style Detroit in this 3D runner as you uncover the evidence that can change the city forever
• The Gardener and the Wild Vines
  Leap, slash, and climb your way to the top of fantastical towers in this story-based platformer where platforms spawn as you climb vines.
• Why Pizza?
  Try your best to deliver pizza and try to not get bankrupt in this 90’s cartoon style pizza delivery platformer.
• Lunark
  a 2D cinematic platformer where you’ll shoot your way through mysterious alien ruins, a flying penitentiary, a high-tech megalopolis, and a majestic forest.

Sports/Racing

• Drive Buy
  Take battles to the street as you must outdrive, outsmart, and out delivery your rivals.
• Kovox Pitch
  A non-meditative rhythm game where you’ll be hitting baseballs to the beat.
• SkateBird
  Play as a bird to grind on bendy straws, kickflip over staplers, and carve killer lines through cardboard and sticky tape parks.
• You Suck at Parking
  An extreme racing game where the goal is to be the first one to park.
• Guts and Goals
  Beat your friends at a game of soccer mixed with beat’em up gameplay.

Visual Novel

  When high school students return to school after hours, they are greeted with an ominous feeling.
• Perfect Gold
  A Yuri visual novel where friends turned enemies escape detention together to attend a festival.
• Hermitage: Strange Case Files
  A paranormal horror adventure that revolves around a sinister bookstore that attracts unusual customers.
• MAMIYA
  A dark visual novel where a group of young men struggle against existential dread before the end of the world.
• Anicon – Animal Complex – Rabbit’s Path
