Everything Announced During Wholesome Snack The Game Awards Edition 2023
I smell some game announcements!
Vivaruim
You wake up and find yourself in an enormous terrarium. Explore, meet characters, and grow your escape – and along the way, uncover the mysteries of the terrarium as well.
This one looks pretty interesting and it’s really evoking that old anime style, which I’m loving. I’m excited to hear more about this title once it gets closer to release as I know I’m going to want to play this one.
Communite
Relax and use your creativity spread new life in an endless world – working together with other players to create your perfect paradise!
I’m not too sure about this game, but this game does look cute and looks promising. I might try out the demo when I have some free time. Communite will release in Early Access next year, but there is a demo available now if you want to try it out.
Flock
Flock is a multiplayer co-op game about the joy of flight and collecting adorable flying creatures with your friends. Soar through beautiful landscapes, seeking out rare and elusive creatures to add to your flock.
This game was, weirdly, not talked about much, but it does look cute. A demo is available for you to try out Flock now.
Pine Hearts
Pine Hearts is a cosy little narrative-adventure game set in the sleepy scenery of Pine Hearts Caravan Park. Explore the great outdoors as you uncover items, unlock new paths, and discover all the little secrets stuffed throughout the Park.
A demo is available now.
Lightyear Frontier
Lightyear Frontier is a peaceful open-world farming adventure on a planet at the far edge of the galaxy. Climb into your versatile mech and start your new home on a distant planet with up to 3 friends as you farm alien crops, build your own homestead, and explore the untamed wilderness of the world.
We’ve been seeing farming sims with some unique spins on the genre lately, and Lightyear Frontier looks like another one. It looks interesting, but I’d definitely want to see more gameplay. This is set to release sometime in March on Steam and Xbox.
Go-Go Town!
Plan, Build…Prosper? As mayor, it’s up to you to breathe life back into this rundown town. Construct shops, hire staff, automate deliveries with couriers, and attract tourists to town, all while managing infrastructure and avoiding catastrophes! Who said being mayor was going to be easy…
Go-Go Town has no release date, but a demo is available now for you to try out.
Snacko
Lift a curse and revitalize a ruined island in Snacko, where former big city kitties Momo and Mikan are starting a new life! Grow crops, raise fluffy cows, go fishing, exploring, customize and decorate as you please, and much, much more in this farming cat-venture.
I was not expecting this cute game to make an appearance, let alone be released. I think I still will wait until the full release, just so I don’t get burnt out before it’s fully done, though. Snacko is available in Early Access now on Steam and it’s set to release on Playstation and Switch next year once it’s ready to fully release.
Usagi Shima
You’ve been tasked as caretaker of an abandoned island — as you decorate it over time, curious (but adorable!) bunnies start to appear… Entice cute bunny tourists to pay your island a visit!
This game is already released on mobile, but it’s getting some content updates for those playing or will be playing. It looks like this adds a beach and more items for you to decorate and give to your little bunnies.
Baladins
Embark on a whimsical journey and bring joy to a bright fantasy world in this roleplaying adventure for 1-4 players, featuring approachable hour-long sessions!
Games like these really make me wish I had enough friends that play games to fill out a full lobby. I remember seeing this earlier in the year and while it doesn’t seem we got any new news, I’m still looking forward to it (and I hope this can be reasonably played solo). This will release sometime next year on Steam, Switch, and Playstation, but there is a demo you can play now.
Eastward Octopia DLC
Sam and John return in an all-new adventure! In this heartwarming story-driven farming sim, players can grow crops, tend livestock, and turn an abandoned fairground into a thriving village, with the help of the weird and wonderful cast of beloved Eastward characters.
For those that want to jump back into Eastward, you don’t have to wait long as this will be available on January 31.
Simple Times
Simpler Times is an experiential, interactive meditation that rewards patience and attention with poignant moments that can be replayed like a favorite song.
There is no release date yet, but it’ll be available on Steam.
Summer House
A tiny building game about beautiful lived-in houses. No rules or restrictions, just pure creativity.
Yes. Summer House reminds me of this other game that I just couldn’t get into that’s kind of similar but is on a bigger sale, but this one definitely speaks to me more. Like, yes, I want to build little houses and restaurants. This will release sometime next year, but you can try out your house building skills now with the demo.
Sky: Children of the Light
Sky: Children of the Light is a peaceful, award-winning MMO designed to help players meaningfully connect with one another. You are a Child of the Light with a magical cape, set out into a wide world to find others like yourself. All are welcome in this cozy, open-world adventure above the clouds!
Honestly, I had no idea this wasn’t on Steam yet. There’s no set release yet, but a demo is available now.
Bugaboo Pocket
A virtual pet game starring bugs from land, air and sea! Play as a research scientist living in a cabin with just your bugs and a penpal for company. Spoil them with pets, minigames, food and furniture. Raise and release bugs to help Beetleback Ridge recover from a devastating fire.
If you like idle games and/or Tomagotchi/Tomagotchi-like games, this one will surely be for you. Bugaboo Pocket will release next year, with a demo out now.
Europia
On the moon Europa, a lush terraformed paradise in Jupiter’s shadow, an android named Zee sets out in search of answers. Run, glide and fly across the landscape, solve mysteries in the ruins of a fallen utopia, and discover the story of the last human alive.
Europia will release on April 16 and a demo is available now if you want to try it out.
Duck Detective
Solving crime is no walk in the pond. You are a down-on-his-luck detective who also happens to be a duck. Use your powers of de-duck-tion to inspect evidence, fill in the blanks, and bust the case wide open, in a narrative mystery adventure where nothing is quite as it seems.
You play as a duck? A duck that’s a detective? Um, yes please. Not to mention how you can just bring out your magnifying glass and casually inspect who you’re talking to. This one can’t release sooner with the release date being sometime next year.
Trash Goblin
A wholesome & cozy shopkeeping game where you uncover & clean trinkets, then upcycle them to sell to endless colourful & quirky customers. Spend your savings to upgrade your shop, buy new and better tools, even expand your business to exciting new districts across town!
I’ve been seeing this one a lot lately, but I’m still not sure about it. I have a feeling I’d be bad at the minigame you do for making items though lol. Trash Goblin has a demo available now and is set to release sometime next year.
Momento
Journey through a life where the objects you choose to keep influence the life you lead. A cozy room decorator with whimsical settings; relaxing gameplay; and charming branching narratives, Momento will be a warm ode to the challenge of following your dreams down the winding road of life.
We can all use another game like Unpacking. This one looks cute and I really liked the art style and the scenes we were shown. It’ll be interesting to see what changes too since the store page says there’s branching paths that you go down depending on what items you keep and the trailer looks like it went down the scientist route due to you keeping the spaceship and astrology items. Momento has no release date yet.
Sticky Business Plan With Me DLC
Plan With Me centers around planning, writing, bullet journaling and everything stationery. Plus, you’ll have the chance to connect with new friends like the penpals Tim and Sanjay or Dani, the travel blogger.
I both was and wasn’t expecting Sticky Business to get a DLC haha. It’s great this is getting some more content and I might have to come back to play this and make some stickers with the new stickers. This DLC is releasing really soon on December 18.
Voyagers of Nera
Voyagers of Nera is a cooperative survival-crafting game for up to 16 players set in a vibrant ocean world brimming with magical creatures and ancient mysteries. Tend your island’s spirit, build a unique village with friends, and skim across the water in the ever-shifting ocean.
This will be released in Early Access sometime next year.
