Nintendo Indie World Showcase August Recap

So many surprised releases!

A Nintendo Indie Showcase was shown recently and it brought on so many surprise game releases! You can watch the stream here:

Out Now

• Axiom Verge 2
  A sequel to the original, but having a separate story so the first game isn’t required to understand everything, this follows a new character named Indra who focuses on melee combat and has hacking skills.
• Boyfriend Dungeon
  Like dating sims? Like dungeon crawlers? Want to date your weapons perhaps? Well this is the game for you as you’ll be able to date (or just get to know) the weapons you’ll be wielding when you dive into dungeons to face your fears. This is one game I’ve been looking forward to for a long while.
• Curious Expedition 2
  A turn-based narrative roguelike where you’ll explore the various biomes of mystery worlds, manage resources, and face against any danger that comes your way.
• Garden Story
  This has been featured A LOT, so I’m sure everyone already knows that this is where you play a cute little grape Guardian on its journey to unify a broken community.
• Islanders: Console Edition
  A relaxing, minimalist strategy game where you build cities on colorful islands. You have all the freedom to create whatever you want.
• Necrobarista: Final Pour
  Well this is a nice surprise! Finally out for Switch, visit a back-alley cafe where the dead are granted one last night to mingle with the living. And in addition, this includes some additional content.
• Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition
  Play as Beatrix LeBeau as she tries her hand at ranching some slimes, hopefully make some profit, explore this mysterious world, and follow the notes of the last owner. I’ll be interested on how performance is, as it’s not so great on Playstation and XBox. You can also check out my review on Slime Rancher.

Coming Out This Year

• Eastward
  Join John and Sam on an exciting adventure as they try to escape the tyrannical clutches of a subterranean society, discover settlements, fend off monsters, and make friends. This is set to release on September 16.
• Tetris Effect
  Well I don’t think I need to explain what Tetris Effect is other than it’s Tetris but with different stages. Set to release on October 8.
• Gang Beasts
  A silly multiplayer party game where you play as gelatinous characters in hazardous environments that fight to be the last one standing. Coming this Fall.
• Toem
  Hungry for more photography games? Well TOEM will help scratch that itch as you’ll chat with quirky characters,  explore the area, snap pictures, and solve problems by snapping pictures. Coming this Fall.
• Hundred Days – Winemaking Simulator
  A winemaking simulator where you try to make the best wine by interacting with every stage it takes, from soil to the winery. Coming this Holiday.
• Loop Hero
  The Lich has thrown you into a timeless loop and the only way for you to hopefully make your way out of it is to wield that ever-expanding deck that will let you place enemies, buildings, and terrain. You may be able to plan what you’ll be running into, but can you stand up against the Lich? Coming this Holiday.
• Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon
  Shovel Knight is about to be perfect for your pocket as he’ll be diving into a falling block puzzle dungeons where it seems like the enemies and pickups are the blocks you’ll need to group together to execute chain attacks. Coming this Holiday.

Coming Out Next Year

• Astroneer
  Explore outer space, discover distant worlds, risk your life in harsh environments, unearth rare discovers, unlock the mysteries of the universe, and reshape the ground under your feat by yourself or with 3 other friends. Set to come out January 2022.
• Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
  Start your own cypher and dance, paint, trick, face off with others, and stake your claim in the sprawling metropolis in an alternate future. Coming out in 2022.
• FAR: Changing Tides
  An atmospheric vehicle adventure where you follow an emotional journey of a boy and his ship as he goes on a voyage to find a new home. Though, he’ll have to brave stormy waters, dive into unknown depths, and explore forgotten ruins in this flooded world. Coming out in 2022.
• Lumbearjack
  Play as a humble bear that has a dream of returning nature to its former glory with the help of his trusty axe. He’ll be saving the environment by chopping and recycling man-made things in a variety of puzzles. Coming in 2022.
• Metal Slug Tactics
  For Metal Slug and tactical fans, or just those that like tactical games, this aims to blend the iconic dynamic battles in the Metal Slug series with a tactical RPG perspective. This is set to come out in 2022.
