News Central: Monster Hunter Rise Demo Ending Soon, Steam Game Festival Returning, More Animal Crossing New Horizons Content, & More

Some news to chew on

Monster Hunter Rise

If you don’t already know, the upcoming Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Rise, has a demo on the Nintendo Switch. Though, what you might not know is that it’s limited time. The demo will go down after January 31. Though, even if you’re still planning on getting it, you should still play the demo. Once the full game releases on March 26, those that have the save data from the demo will be able to claim an item pack.

In other Monster Hunter Rise news, it has been confirmed that we will be getting a Monster Hunter Rise themed Nintendo Switch and Switch Pro Controller. Grabbing the themed Switch comes with a download code for the game, Deluxe Kit DLC, and additional bonus content.

The Deluxe  Kit DLC will include: Hunter layered armor “Kamurai” set, Palamute layered armor piece “Shuriken Collar”, Palico layered armor piece “Fish Collar”, Gestures (4 Jumps), Samurai pose set, Kabuki face paint, and “Izuchi Tail” hairstyle. With the bonus content being the pre-order bonuses: Palamute Retriever Costume layered armor, Palico Forest Cat Costume layered armor, Novice Talisman

The only areas this is confirmed to be releasing in so far is in Japan and Europe.

Steam Game Festival Returning!

Last year, we got a whole host of game festivals/showcases, with Valve themselves hosting The Steam Game Festival. The first one of this year will start on February 3 to the 9. Like the others, there will be demos to try out, streams to watch, and chats with devs. Games that are set to release sometime in the next 6 months will be participating.

Celeste 3rd Anniversary

As Celeste has reached its 3rd anniversary, yah I’m surprised it’s been that long too, we got a free sequel called Celeste Classic 2. You can play the game HERE on itchio. You can either play it in your browser, or download it.

TinyBuild Direct

TinyBuild is going to announce 4 new upcoming games and share news on their other already announced titles that are upcoming as well. The direct will be on February 2 and will start on 10am PST/.1pm EST. The link to the livestream is HERE

Balan Wonderland Demo Upcoming

For those looking forward to Balan Wonderland releasing, you won’t have to wait long to play it (well kind of). We’ll be able to get a taste of Balan Wonderland very soon as the demo will be releasing on January 28.

Animal Crossing New Horizons

And finally, Animal Crossing. For those owning New Horizons, new updates are incoming. On January 28, we’ll be getting an update to introduce the Festivale Event. On February 15, Festivale will be hosted where Pave the dancer returns to usher in confetti and the carnival spirit. You’ll be asked to collect different colored feathers drifting around your island and trade them with Pave to get a passionate dance in return. In addition, a new reaction set will be available to purchase from Nook’s Cranny featuring 4 new reactions. February will also mark the Able Sisters selling Festivale clothing for a limited time.

Seasonal items will also be arriving through Nook Shopping!

  • For Valentines Day, we’ll be able to buy Chocolate Hearts and a Heart Shaped Bouquet (I’m guessing we won’t be seeing an actual Valentines Day event) which will be available to purchase between February 1 to 14
  • Football Rug and Cheering Megaphone for Big Game Celebration until February 15
  • Resetti model (*cries*) for Groundhog Day until February 2
  • Korean New Year Pouch from February 10 to 17
  • Chinese New Year Envelope From February 10 to 17
  • Bean-Tossing Kit until February 3 and Ogre Costume (at Able Sisters from February 1) for Setsubun

And after installing the January update, you’ll be gifted a pair of maracas!

We’ll also be getting another update in March, which looks like will revolve around the Mario items we heard were coming last year.

Sanrio Collaboration Packs will be getting a reprint and releasing on March 26, however it’s going to be exclusive to Target. A pack will contain all 6 available amiibo cards for roughly $6. Hopefully, we’ll be able to order them online for those of us that don’t have a local Target. If you’re as confused as I am to what these do, scanning these will give you a poster in New Horizons (no word on getting anything else so far) while New Leaf will grant you the furniture and the villager featured on the cards.

Though, for ACNH news not involving anything in-game, the collaboration with Colorpop is launching tomorrow (January 28) on 10am PST/1pm EST with Animal Crossing themed makeup.
